Open to teams nationwide, the Maryland Cyber Challenge is a “hackathon” competition designed to promote Maryland as the epicenter for cybersecurity innovation. It was the brainchild of Leidos, UMBC, and other major corporate partners and government agencies. But in year one, they turned to our branding and marketing experts to get the event off the ground.
We created a comprehensive brand identity for the event—then used the powers of social media, online advertising, direct mail, email marketing, and public relations to recruit students, educators, cybersecurity professionals, and sponsors for the big event. For the day of, we oversaw event design, transforming the Baltimore Convention Center into a buzzing cybersecurity hub.
We recruited more than 300 competitors for the first-time event. The day also attracted appearances from the state’s top leaders, including the governor, a senator and congressman, and renowned educator Dr. Freeman Hrabowski.
